Alex Freeman Makes U.S. World Cup Roster

     The United States announced their complete roster for the upcoming 2026 World Cup. It will be held in stadiums throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. The competition happens once every four years and will begin on June 11. 
     One person from the South Florida region made the U.S. squad. Alex Freeman was named as a defender on the team. He attended American Heritage High School in Plantation and played three years with Weston FC Academy from 2017 to 2019. Freeman. son of former NFL player Antonio Freeman, then participated with Orlando City Academy for two seasons in 2020 and 2021. 
     He was with the Orlando City B team in MLS Next Pro from 2022 until 2024. Freeman was elevated to Orlando City SC in Major League Soccer and was there during their 2025 campaign. He was transferred to Villareal in La Liga in January 2026.
