Inter Miami CF Stop Portland Timbers

Inter Miami CF topped the Portland Timbers 2-0 at Nu Stadium on Sunday night. It turned out to be the first victory for the Herons in their new venue. They now have a 1-1-3 record in their five contests at the new Miami stadium.
It was just the third time both teams faced each other in Major League Soccer. The Timbers made their second South Florida appearance since they played the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in Lockhart Stadium at Fort Lauderdale in the North American Soccer League on June 5, 1982.
Inter Miami CF(8-2-4) pulled out to a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute. Telasco Segovia slipped a heel kick to the middle of the field and Lionel Messi put in an eight-yard shot with his left foot.
Portland(4-7-2) gave up another goal in the 42nd minute of play and trailed 2-0. Messi dribbled into the penalty area and then made a square pass to his left with the outside of his left foot. German Berterame booted in a right-footed shot from nine yards out.
