Red Wings Clip Panthers
The Florida Panthers were unable to extend their division lead as they were defeated by the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in a shootout at Joe Louis Arena on Sunday. Florida broke the tie late in the first period as Tomas Fleischmann put in his 26th goal of the season. Neither team scored in the second period. Juri Hudler tied the game at 5:30 of the third period as his shot from the right circle went off a defenseman in the crease. Detroit wrapped the game up with shootout goals by Pavel Datsyuk and Hudler. Wojtek Wolski scored in the shootout for the Panthers. The Cats finished their last of four straight games on the road and host the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.
