The Florida Panthers played the New Jersey Devils in Newark on Saturday night at the Prudential Center and lost in the three seconds of overtime 2-1. The Cats finished a three-game road trip at 1-1-1 and host the New York Islanders and San Jose Sharks later this week.
Michael Ryder got New Jersey(19-18-9) the lead at 15:22 of the first period on a wrist shot for his 16th goal of the year. In the second period, Nick Bjugstad evened the game for Florida(17-21-7) with his ninth goal this season at 11:54. The goal was assisted by Tomas Fleischmann and Scottie Upshall.
The contest went into overtime and the Devils would score with three seconds left in the extra session.
