Red Wings Fly Over Panthers

     The Florida Panthers played the Detroit Red Wings for the second time in five nights and lost 3-0 at Joe Louis Arena on Monday night. The Panthers, who have fell in their last two games, had their five-game win streak in Detroit snapped.. Jaromir Jagr became the tenth person to play in 1,600 NHL games.
     There was no scoring in the first two periods. Detroit was able to break the tie at 4:19 of the third period. Tomas Tatar scored his 16th goal of the season as he put the puck in from close range.
     The Red Wings extended their margin to 2-0 on the power play with 8:34 remaining. Pavel Datsyuk skated from the left point to the top left circle and snapped a shot over the left glove of Al Montoya.
     Florida fell behind by three goals just over one minute later. Alex Petrovic lost the puck near the neutral zone. Justin Abdelkader sent a cross-ice pass at the blue line to Henrik Zetterberg. He backhanded the puck ahead to Datsyuk in the slot and he finished the play with a backhand shot in the crease.
