The annual McDougle Bowl for northeast Broward County superiority in high school football was held on Friday night as the Deerfield Beach Bucks smashed the Blanche Ely Tigers 30-3 at Butler Stadium. The Bucks, who bounced back following a loss to Hallandale two weeks ago, won their third straight game over the Tigers.
Deerfield Beach(1-1) had to wait until late in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead at the 1:38 mark. University of Alabama commit and Bucks wide receiver Jerry Jeudy caught a ball in the middle of the field, hurdled over a tackler and scored from 36 yards away.
Blanche Ely(1-2) surrendered two touchdowns during the second quarter as they fell behind by 20 points. Quarterback Nick Holm threw a high pass to Jeudy on the left side of the end zone for a 15-yard score at 8:23. Running back Jakari Norwood rushed through the middle for a two-yard touchdown run at 2:51 following a 32-yard run by him on the previous play.
The Bucks capitalized on an interception return deep into Tigers territory late in the third quarter. Running back Jaylan Knighton went through the right side and scored on an 11-yard touchdown run with 2:34 left in the third to make it 27-0. Both schools kicked field goals during the fourth quarter.
