Florida Panthers Win Rookie Camp

     The Florida Panthers won the 2016 four-team rookie camp tournament that was held in Coral Springs over the last four days. The club went undefeated in their three games of competition.
     The last time the tournament was held in South Florida was in 2014. Training camp for the entire Florida Panthers 51-man roster will begin on September 22.
     The Panthers held on to defeat the Nashville Predators 6-3 on Saturday night in the first game of the tournament. Denis Malgin scored the first two goals for the Cats as they pulled ahead 3-0 by the midway point of the game. Michael Matheson added a goal during in the third period.
     Florida won their next contest against Washington on Sunday as they scored three third-period goals to get by the Capitals 5-2. Malgin had the natural hat trick which included the game-winning goal 32 seconds into the third. Juho Lammikko tallied a goal for the second consecutive game.
     They were victorious in their final game on Tuesday versus the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2. Malgin compiled the game-winning goal with 1:14 left in regulation while Kyle Rau scored in his second straight game.
