Former local high school football player Lamar Jackson appeared last week on the magazine cover of Sports Illustrated. He was on the regional cover of Phil Steele College Football Preview and Athlon Sports ACC magazine earlier this year.
Jackson was a quarterback when he played for the Boynton Beach Tigers until 2014. He has started at quarterback for the past two years with the University of Louisville Cardinals. His team is undefeated this season at 4-0 and beat Florida State two week ago.
He is now considered a contender for the Heisman Trophy in 2016. Jackson has thrown for 1,330 yards and 13 touchdown passes along with running for 526 yards and 12 touchdowns over his first four games this season.
