Former Miami Marlins catcher A.J. Ellis is expected to retire from Major League Baseball. He will join the San Diego Padres front office in baseball as a special assistant to the general manager.
Ellis was with the Marlins during the 2017 regular season. He batted .210 with six home runs and 14 runs batted in with Miami in 51 games. Ellis is best remembered playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2008 to 2016.
