The Detroit Pistons defeated the Miami Heat 119-96 on Saturday night at American Airlines Arena. It was a return home for the Heat after six games on the road over the past three weeks.
Miami(26-32) scooted out to a 29-20 advantage after one quarter, however Detroit(28-30) came back with a 34-17 spurt to go up 54-46 by halftime. After both clubs scored 30 points each in the third, the Pistons pulled away as they outscored the Heat 35-20 in the final quarter.
Josh Richardson had 22 points to lead the way for the Heat while Dwyane Wade added 15 points. Hassan Whiteside chalked up a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Ish Smith fell short of a double-double with a team-high 22 points and nine assists for the Pistons. Blake Griffin was able to add 20 points along with six assists.
