The Miami Heat got by the Dallas Mavericks 105-99 at American Airlines Arena on Thursday night. The Heat moved ahead by half-a-game over the Orlando Magic for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot. The Mavericks have the second worst record in the Western Conference.
Both Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki faced each other for the final time in their NBA careers because both players are retiring after the 2018-19 season. Wade and Nowitzki played in two NBA Finals against one another. The Heat captured their first NBA championship in 2006 against Dallas and the Mavericks won their only NBA title in 2011 over the Heat.
Dallas(29-46) had a 29-26 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 59-49 by halftime. Miami(37-38) responded in the second half and trailed 75-69 after three quarters. The Heat went on a 9-2 spurt at the end of the contest to get the victory.
Goran Dragic compiled a triple-double for Miami with 21 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds. Dion Waiters dropped in 17 points while Bam Adebayo hit a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Luke Doncic put together 19 points and eight rebounds for Dallas. Nowitzki and Jalen Brunson both added 13 points.
