The Colorado Rockies downed the Miami Marlins 6-1 at Marlins Park on Friday night. Both clubs will meet each other two more times this weekend.
Miami(0-2) took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. New Marlins outfielder Curtis Granderson powered a solo home run to right field on a 3-1 count against German Marquez.
Colorado(2-0) evened the contest up 1-1 during the top of the sixth. David Dahl doubled to right field to bring in Trevor Story.
The Rockies went in front 2-1 in the seventh inning. Charlie Blackmon hit a double into left field and Ryan McMahon scored.
They were able to blow the game open in the top of the ninth with four runs. Tony Wolters knocked in Rosell Herrera with a line-drive double to right field. Blackmon followed with a base hit to left field and Herrera crossed the plate. Nolan Arenado came up and drove in Herrera on a single to right for a 5-1 lead.
