Marlins Lose Home Opener To Rockies

     The Miami Marlins opened up their 27th Major League Baseball season and lost to the Colorado Rockies 6-3 at Marlins Park on Thursday. The Marlins wore their new logo and color scheme on their caps and jerseys.
     In the fourth inning, Colorado(1-0) piled on four runs against Marlins starting pitcher Jose Urena. David Dahl singled into right field which brought in Nolan Arenado. Two batters later, Ryan McMahon lined a base hit up the middle for Trevor Story to score. Chris Iannetta came up next, doubled to center field and McMahon crossed the plate.
     The Rockies increased the gap to 6-0 in the fifth inning. Story blasted a solo homer to left field on a 1-2 count. Ian Desmond later knocked in Dahl with a double to center.
     Miami(0-1) broke the shutout and got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth against Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland. J.T. Riddle was able to rip a solo home run to right field on a 1-0 pitch.
     Neil Walker made his debut with the Marlins in their home opener. He faced Colorado relief pitcher Scott Oberg and homered to right-center field on the first pitch during the eighth inning.
     Another Marlins player who made his team debut also had an impact in the ninth inning. Jorge Alfaro blasted a solo home run to right field with two out on a 0-2 pitch.
