The Florida Panthers defeated the Dallas Stars 4-1 at American Airlines Center on Sunday night. The Panthers concluded their five-game road trip with the victory.
Dallas(11-12-9) moved ahead 1-0 on the power play at the 4:32 mark. Jason Robertson put in his sixth goal of the campaign past Chris Driedger with assists from Roope Hintz and John Klingberg.
It was quickly answered back by Florida(22-9-4) 31 seconds later to tie it up 1-1. Jonathan Huberdeau stole the puck from Jamie Benn on the right wing. He scored on a snap shot from the inner edge of the right circle by Jake Oettinger.
Anthony Duclair was awarded a penalty shot at 6:29 of the first. He skated in and snapped a shot off the left post that went into the cage for his fourth goal this year. It was the first time in his NHL career that Duclair converted on a penalty shot after three previous missed attempts.
The Panthers opened up a 3-1 lead on the man advantage with 6:23 remaining in the frame. Keith Yandle angled a pass from the top of the zone to his right. Huberdeau released a wrist shot from the top right circle for his second goal of the contest and 13rd goal of the season. Ekblad, who had the secondary assist on the play, was hurt with a serious leg injury with 11:02 to go in the second period.
Owen Tippett got an empty-net goal with 1:05 left for a three-goal margin. Huberdeau gathered his third point in the game on an assist.
