It was the return of Jorge Soler to South Florida as the San Francisco Giants got past the Miami Marlins 4-3 at loanDepot park on Monday night. Soler played for Miami during 2022 and 2023.
The Marlins continued their six-game homestand. Otto Lopez made his Marlins debut against his former club.
Miami(3-12) charged out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Avisail Garcia smacked a solo home run to left-center field on the first pitch for his second homer of the campaign. Five batters later, Bryan De La Cruz singled into left field for Otto Lopez and Luis Arraez to score.
San Francisco(7-10) got a run in the top of the fourth and were down 3-1. Michael Conforto singled through the right side and Jung Hoo Lee crossed the plate.
The Giants overtook the Fish with three runs during the top of the seventh and had a 4-3 advantage. Patrick Bailey knocked in Thairo Estrada with a sacrifice fly to left field. Two batters later, Lee drove in Mike Yastrzemski on a base hit through the left side. They capped the rally when Wlmer Flores followed with a single to center field which brought in Nick Ahmed.
