The Miami Marlins blew a seven-run lead and lost to the Washington Nationals 12-9 at loanDepot park on Sunday. The Marlins extended their losing streak to six games. Both teams will face each other tomorrow to finish the four-game wraparound weekend series.
Miami(6-23) rocketed out to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit his second grand-slam homer of the season and his club-record fifth career grand-slam home run. The Fish added one more run in the second inning and had a seven-run cushion.
Washington(13-14) overtook the Fish by the middle of the game. The Nationals had five runs in the top of the fourth and four runs in the top of the fifth for a 9-7 lead. Nick Senzel had a home run in both frames in the comeback. The Nats stayed in front for the rest of the contest.
