The E.W Scripps Company television stations WHDT-TV Channel 9 in West Palm Beach and WSFL-TV Channel 39 in Miami will no longer be carried by Xfinity cable systems in Palm Beach County, Broward County and Dade County. It was unusual timing for the change on the Scripps Sports telecast which happened during the first period of play between the Florida Panthers and Ottawa Senators. The Panthers contest was interrupted at 7:19 p.m. on Tuesday night with a message that the contract between Xfinity and E.W. Scripps Company had expired.
It means that Florida Panthers broadcasts will not be seen on Comcast Xfinity cable systems in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast region of Martin County, St. Lucie County, Indian River County and Okeechobee County. Florida has eight games left in the regular season and are not expected to make the 2025-26 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
