The Fort Lauderdale Strikers had a tough time on Wednesday night as they were blanked by Boca Juniors 3-0 in the inaugural Challenge Cup international friendly game at Lockhart Stadium. It was a rare occasion that the club from Argentina appeared in the United States for a match.
The Strikers begin the NASL Fall Season on July 8 when they go on the road and face the Carolina Railhawks. The next home game for Fort Lauderdale will be on July 11 against FC Edmonton.
Boca Juniors struck early three minutes into the game as Jonathan Calleri scored. They expanded their lead during the second half as Alexis Rolin had a goal in the 55th minute and Cristian Pavo made it 3-0 in the 77th minute.
