Both teams combined for only eight hits in the game as the Cubbies had five and the Fish got three. Miami(35-48) finishes off their road trip with two games at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox.
Marlins starting pitcher Mat Latos gave up one run to Chicago(44-36) during the first inning. After Dexter Fowler flew out to left field, former Marlin Chris Coghlan walked. Kris Bryant singled to right and advanced him to third. Miguel Montero struck out then Coghlan scored on a wild pitch with Starlin Castro at-bat.
In the eighth inning, the Cubs added another run against Miami reliever Carter Capps. Chris Denorfia led off with a pinch-hit double to right-center field. Three batters later, Coghlan knocked in Denorfia with a base hit into right to make it 2-0.
