The Miami Marlins extended their winning streak to four games as they defeated the Chicago Cubs 2-1 at Wrigley Field on Friday. The Fish reached the midway point of the regular season as they snapped the Cubbies three-game win streak.
Both clubs were able to score during the first inning. Miami(35-46) got the lead as Christian Yelich hit a solo home run to center field on a 2-2 pitch against Cubs starting pitcher Jason Hammel for his fifth homer of the season.
Chicago(42-36) evened it up in the bottom of the frame with a two-out rally off Tom Koehler. After Kris Bryant doubled to deep left field, he scored on a base hit by Miguel Montero to right field to make it 1-1.
The Marlins regained the lead during the sixth inning as Justin Bour hit a home run to right field for the fourth straight game. He got his tenth homer of year as he smashed the first pitch from Hammel.
