The Florida Panthers have not renewed the contract of Brian Skrudland as director of player development. He has held that position since July 2010 and was an interim assistant coach with the team during the 2013-14 season. He will be replaced by Scott Luce who moves from his director of scouting post.
Skrudland was named the first captain in Panthers franchise history when he joined the team as a center in 1993. He helped the club win the Eastern Conference championship against the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1995-96 and they later lost to the Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Finals. Skrudland left Florida following the 1996-97 season after four years with the club. He did win two Stanley Cup titles in his playing career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1985-86 and the Dallas Stars in 1998-99.
