The Fort Lauderdale Strikers played to a tie for the second straight game as they drew with FC Edmonton 1-1 at Lockhart Stadium on Saturday night. The Strikers will play there next NASL game at home on July 18 against the Atlanta Silverbacks.
Midfielder Walter Ramirez scored on a penalty kick during the 68th minute to put Fort Lauderdale(0-0-2) on the scoreboard first. Strikers midfielder Shawn Chin was taken down inside the 18-yard box by FC Edmonton(1-0-1) goalkeeper Matt VanOekel which led to the penalty kick.
FC Edmonton evened the match in the 86th minute when a long shot by forward Sadi Jalali hit the left post, bounced off Strikers goalkeeper Josh Ford and over the goal line.
