Alex Lyon NHL Third Star Of Week

     Florida Panthers goalie Alex Lyon has been named the National Hockey League Third Star of the Week. The time period for the week started on May 3 and ended on May 9.
     He jumped into the Panthers lineup and has become a reliable backup goalie behind Sergei Bobrovsky on the Florida depth chart. Lyon finished with the 3-0-0 record, 1.67 goals-against-average and .959 save percentage over the past week. Lyon stopped 117 of 122 shots on goal in three contests. He has a 9-3-1 record, 2.88 goals-against-average and .916 save percentage in 13 games played this season. 
     Lyon got victories over the Buffalo Sabres, Ottawa Senators and Washington Capitals in the last seven days. The Panthers leaped over the New York Islanders and the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference standings. They currently hold the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with two games remaining in the 2022-23 regular season.
