The Miami Marlins knocked off the Philadelphia Phillies 5-3 at loanDepot park on Saturday. The defeat ended the Phillies 13-game road winning streak. The Marlins regained a 2 1/2 game lead over the Phillies for second place in the National League East.
Philadelphia(48-40) got out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Park Vista High School grad Trea Turner golfed a solo home run to left field on a 2-2 pitch for his 10th homer this year.
Miami(52-39) responded quickly in the bottom of the first to make it 3-1. Jorge Soler smacked a solo homer to left field on a 1-1 count for his 23rd homer of the season. Dane Myers later knocked in Garrett Cooper and Yuli Gurriel with a base hit through the right side.
The Phillies picked up two runs in the top of the second to tie it 3-3. Cristian Pache drove in Alec Bohm on a double off the top of the right-field wall. Kyle Schwarber then grounded out to the pitcher and Edmundo Sosa crossed the plate.
The Marlins reclaimed the lead 4-3 in the fourth inning. Soler hit a sacrifice fly to center field which scored Myers. In the seventh inning, Luis Arraez singled into right-center field to score Cooper for a 5-3 lead.
