Marlins Hold Tigers

The Miami Marlins handled the Detroit Tigers 8-6 at loanDepot park on Sunday. It was the final time that Miguel Cabrera will ever play against his original team. He will retire following the end of the 2023 Major League Baseball season.
Detroit(47-59) put up four runs in the top of the third. Spencer Torkelson got base hit up the middle and Matt Vierling raced home. Javier Baez later singled into center field and Torkelson scored. Two batters later, Cabrera doubled to the left-field wall for Riley Greene and Baez to cross the plate.
Miami(57-49) tied it to 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth. Avisail Garcia scored on an infield base hit by Yuli Gurriel to the right side. Two batters later, Nick Fortes knocked in Gurriel with a double into left field. Garrett Hampson followed with a double into the left-field corner which brought in Jean Segura and Fortes.
The Marlins capped the contest 8-6 in the eighth inning. Segura blasted a solo home run to center field on a 2-2 pitch for just his third homer with his team.
