St. Thomas Aquinas Escapes Blanche Ely

     The #2 St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders survived a scare and defeated the #3 Blanche Ely Tigers 53-32 at Simmons Family Field in Fort Lauderdale on Friday night in a FHSAA Class 5A regional semifinal. The Raiders will continue their state-record, five-consecutive championship reign postseason run when they travel to the Atlantic Eagles next week. 
     Blanche Ely(8-4) was able to get out in front 12-10 by the conclusion of the first quarter. Both teams exchanged touchdowns in second quarter and it was tied 18-18 at halftime.
     St. Thomas Aquinas(9-3) piled on three touchdowns during the third quarter and led 39-18. STA scored early in the fourth quarter and were up 46-18. Both teams scored two touchdowns each in the fourth quarter.
