It was the first of two contests to be played in Indianapolis this weekend. Both clubs will face each other again on Sunday.
The National Basketball Association began the implement back-to-back games in the same venue between the same two teams a couple of years ago. The main reasons were travel constraints and financial circumstances.
Indiana(5-7) stomped out to a 29-26 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Miami(5-6) went by them and led 61-55 at halftime.
The Heat were able to stay ahead 98-85 by the conclusion of the third quarter. They retained at least a double-digit lead in the final quarter.
Bam Adebayo piled on 30 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for Miami. Tyler Herro dropped in 20 points while Kevin Love added 15 points along with seven rebounds.
The Pacers were led by Tyrese Haliburton with 18 points and eight rebounds. Pascal Siakam was able to place in 14 points.
