Kaiir Elam No Fifth-Year Option

The Dallas Cowboys have declined the fifth-year option to cornerback Kaiir Elam. He was acquired in a trade by the Cowboys from the Buffalo Bills back in March. He was expected to receive $12.68 million for the 2026 season.
Elam played high school football with the Benjamin Buccaneers and college football with the University of Florida Gators. He was selected 23rd overall during the 2022 NFL Draft by the Bills and had two interceptions in 29 contests.

Athletics Move By Marlins

The Miami Marlins lost to the Athletics 6-1 at loanDepot park on Friday night. The Fish came off a six-game west coast road trip in which they went 1-5.
The Athletics played the Marlins for the first time since they moved from Oakland. The A's called Oakland as their home for 57 seasons from 1968 to 2024.
Athletics starting pitcher Gunnar Hoglund made his Major League Baseball debut and picked up the winning decision. He gave up one run on six hits and had seven strikeouts in six innings pitched.
The A's have won 12 of the last 16 contests. The Marlins have fallen in 12 of their past 16 games and extended their losing streak to six games.
The Athletics(18-15) sprung out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Nick Kurtz knocked in former Marlins J.J. Bleday with a base hit into right field. Two batters later, Jacob Wilson walked with the bases loaded to score Luis Urias.
Miami(12-19) was down 3-0 in the third inning. Bleday blasted a solo home run down the right-field line on a 0-1 pitch for his third homer this year.
The A's added three more runs in the top of the fifth for a six-run margin 6-0. Shea Langeliers hit a sacrifice fly to center field and Tyler Soderstrom crossed the plate. Bleday followed and drove in Seth Brown on a single into right field. Brown would later score on and fielding error during a Urias at-bat.
The Marlins got to Hoglund in the bottom of the sixth. Dane Myers smacked a solo homer to right-center field on a 1-2 count for his third home run of the season.
