Dodgers Down Marlins

The Los Angeles Dodgers dropped the Miami Marlins 7-4 at loanDepot park on Monday night. The Dodgers swept the Marlins in a three-game sweep in Los Angeles over a week ago.
Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers was named National League Player of the Week earlier in the day. Los Angeles have won eight of their last nine games.
The last time the Dodgers played in South Florida was on September 19, 2024. It turned out to be one of the greatest was a greatest moments in Major League Baseball history. Shohei Ohtani became the first player in the 50/50 Club when he compiled 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a season. He finished going 6-for-6 with three home runs, 10 runs batted in and two stolen bases during that contest.
Los Angeles(24-11) jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the top of the first. Teoscar Hernandez doubled into the left-center field gap which scored Mookie Betts.
The Dodgers increased it to 3-0 in the third inning. Ohtani walked and advanced to second on a stolen base. Two players later, Freddie Freeman powered a two-run homer to center field on a 0-1 pitch for his seventh home run of the season and 350th career home run. It was his 41st career home run against the Fish which tied a Marlins franchise record by Ryan Howard and Ryan Zimmerman.
Miami(13-21) gave up two more runs in the top of the fifth and trailed 5-0. Hyeseong Kim, who made his first Major League Baseball start, led off the frame with his first career base hit which was a single through the left side. He then was able to steal second base. Ohtani came up next and socked a two-run home run to right field on a 2-2 count for his ninth homer of the 2025 campaign. He finished the game with a career .370 batting average, .433 on base percentage, 1.000 slugging percentage and 1.433 OPS at loanDepot park.
It became 6-0 for Los Angeles in the top of the sixth. Kim knocked in Andy Pages on a single into shallow center field.
The Fish broke the shutout in the bottom of the sixth to make it 6-1. Connor Norby drove in Eric Wagaman with a base hit to left field.
The Dodgers made it a six-run margin again 7-1 in the seventh inning. Chris Taylor doubled down the left-field line and Betts crossed the plate.
The Marlins closed it to 7-4 during the bottom of the eighth. Agustin Ramirez blasted a three-run homer to left-center field on a 1-1 pitch with Jesus Sanchez and Dane Myers aboard. It was the fourth career home run for Ramirez.
