Hurricanes Survive Panthers In Game 4

The Carolina Hurricanes knocked off the Florida Panthers 3-0 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Amerant Bank Arena on Monday night. The Panthers now lead the best-of-seven series 3-1. The series will shift to Raleigh for Game 5 on Wednesday.
The Hurricanes ended an NHL record 15-game Eastern Conference Finals losing streak. The Canes last won a contest during this round in Game 7 back in 2006. Carolina goalie Frederik Andersen collected his fifth career shutout and second postseason shutout this year.
There was no scoring during the first frame. It was the first time in this series that neither team was able to score in a period.
Carolina took a lead in a game during the series for the first time at the 10:15 mark of the second period. Alexander Nikishin sent a long diagonal backhand pass from his own blue line to Logan Stankoven at the Florida blue line. He entered the Panthers zone and snapped a shot from the left circle past Sergei Bobrovsky for his fifth playoff goal to make it 1-0. Nikishin chalked up his first playoff point and first NHL point on the play.
Florida pulled their goalie for an extra attacker with 2:30 to go in the third period. It did not work as the Hurricanes added two empty-net goals in the final stretch of the game. Sebastian Aho scored his fifth goal of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs with 2:09 remaining. It was followed by Jordan Staal with 1:45 left for his second tally of the postseason.
