Miami(15-26) struck in the top of the second to take a 1-0 lead. Kyle Stowers lifted a solo home run to center field on a 2-1 pitch for his eighth homer of the season.
Chicago(25-18) answered back in the bottom of the third to tie it up 1-1. Pete Crow-Armstrong bashed a solo homer to right field on a 2-1 count for his 11th home run of the 2025 campaign.
The Marlins reclaimed the lead 2-1 in the top of the fifth. Javier Sanoja grounded out to second for Connor Norby crossed the plate.
The Cubs responded in the bottom of the fifth with one run to pull even 2-2. Crow-Armstrong hit a sacrifice fly into left field to score Nico Hoerner.
It became 4-2 for the Fish in the seventh inning. Norby crushed a solo home run to left field on a 1-0 pitch. It was his second homer of the year and 11th career home run. Four batters later, Jesus Sanchez knocked in Derek Hill with a base hit through the left side.
The Cubbies overcame Miami with three runs in the top of the ninth for a 5-4 walk-off win. Hoerner singled into center field and Carson Kelly scored. Justin Turner came up next and doubled down the left-field line which scored former Marlin Vidal Brujan and Hoerner. It surprisingly was Turner's first walk-off regular season hit of his entire MLB career. The only time he had previously accomplished a walk-off hit was in Game 2 of the 2017 National League Championship Series.
