It was just the second Major League Soccer game ever between both teams. The Herons and the Earthquakes had faced each other in San Jose back in August 2022.
There was immediate scoring by both clubs early in the first half. Maximiliano Falcon gave Inter Miami CF(6-2-4) a 1-0 lead 34 seconds into the contest on a header from seven yards.
San Jose(5-6-2) answered back quickly to make it 1-1 in the third minute. The Herons committed a bad giveaway in their own penalty and Cristian Arango rifled in an 11-yard shot with his right foot.
The Earthquakes jumped ahead 2-1 during the 37th minute. Beau Leroux blasted a right-footed shot from 24 yards away.
The Herons tied it 2-2 in the 44th minute. Jordi Alba crossed the ball from the left side and Tadeo Allende volleyed in a right-footed shot from six yards out.
San Jose pulled ahead 3-2 on stoppage time at the end of the first half. Ian Harkes fired a 18-yard shot with his left foot.
Allende compiled his second goal of the contest during the 52nd minute for Inter Miami CF to even it up 3-3. He tapped the ball in with a left-footed shot from three yards away.
