New York(2-1) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Omar Narvaez hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Mark Canha crossed the plate.
Miami(1-2) leaped over with two runs during the bottom of the second. Nick Fortes lifted a two-run homer to left field on a 3-1 pitch with Jesus Sanchez aboard to make it 2-1.
The Mets evened it up 2-2 in the fourth inning. Narvaez sliced a base hit to left field for Canha to score.
In the fifth inning, it became 4-2 for New York. Pete Alonso doubled down the left-field line and Jeff McNeil scored. Two batters later, Canha drove in Alonso with a single into right field.
The lead was extended by the Mets to 5-2 during the top of the seventh. Canha blasted a 0-2 pitch over the left-center field wall for his first home run of the season.
New York capped the game with another tally in the eighth inning. Former Marlins player Starling Marte connected on a ground-rule double to right-center field and Alonso reached home.
