Karl Ravech Ousted By ESPN

     Longtime ESPN sportscaster Karl Ravech is among several job cuts made by that organization. His last assignment was yesterday as a baseball play-by-play announcer when the Los Angeles Dodgers visited the Philadelphia Phillies. Ravech handled several national baseball broadcasts held at loanDepot park, which included the 2017 MLB Home Run Derby. 

     Ravech, a 1987 Ithaca College grad, began his broadcasting career in Ithaca with WVIC-AM as a sportscaster in August 1983 and later as a play-by-play announcer. He moved on to sister-station WICB-FM as a sports talk host and Ithaca College football play-by-play announcer. Ravech became a sports anchor, Jim Butterfield Show studio host and Ithaca College football play-by-play announcer at sister-station WICB-TV. 

     He would spend time as a sportscaster in several organizations between 1987 and 1993. Stops would include Cable 13 News in Ithaca, WBNG-TV in Binghamton and WHTM-TV in Harrisburg. 

     Ravech joined ESPN as a sports anchor in May 1993. He was elevated to studio host of Baseball Tonight. Ravech would later add duties as a baseball play-by-play announcer and college basketball play-by-play announcer. He also had a long reign as the Little League World Series play-by-play announcer.
