Prior to the start of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Miami-Christopher Columbus safety Deon Bush made a decision where he will attend college. He committed to the University of Miami Hurricanes. Columbus was projected to be a favorite to win the Class 8A state title in 2011, but were eliminated in the state semi-finals at home against Miramar.
