Former Miami Sports Anchors Win NSSA Awards

The National Sportscasters & Sportswriters Association announced the winners of their 2011 awards on Monday. Two former sports anchors that once worked in Miami were recipients of their individual state honors. Tim Ring won the Arizona sportscaster of the year award for his work as sports director and sports anchor at KTVK-TV in Phoenix. He previously worked at WAMI-TV from 1999 to 2000 as studio co-host on Sportstown, studio co-host of Miami Heat and Florida Marlins broadcasts and evening sports anchor. After Miami, Ring had a stint at Fox Sports Net Colorado. The other former local individual who won was Lindsay Czarniak as she picked up the Washington D.C. sportscaster of the year award for her work at WRC-TV. Last month she began her new job as a sports anchor at ESPN in Connecticut. Czarniak had a stint as a sports anchor and sports reporter at WTVJ-TV in Miami from 2003 to 2005.
