Marlins Acquire Zambrano
The Miami Marlins made a trade on Wednesday as they acquired Carlos Zambrano and cash from the Chicago Cubs for Chris Volstad. Zambrano has played his entire career of 11 seasons with the Cubs with a record of 125-81 along with 1,582 strikeouts and a 3.60 ERA. Last year for the northsiders he was 9-7 with a 4.82 ERA before being suspended by the team for the remainder of the season. Zambrano is also known for being one of the best hitting pitchers in the game. Volstad, who is a Palm Beach Gardens high school graduate, was drafted by the Marlins in 2005 and had a 32-39 record with a 4.59 ERA in four seasons with the franchise. He was 5-13 with 117 strikeouts in 2011 for his former hometown team.
