Former Miami sportscaster Dave Benz has been named the new television play-by-play announcer of the Minnesota Timeberwolves. He leaves the sports anchor and studio co-host positions at Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area that he's held since March 2009. Benz was the radio play-by-play announcer for the San Jose Sabercats of the Arena Football League during the 2012 season. He was also a fill-in sports host on KNBR-AM 680 in San Francisco since July 2010.
Benz was known in the Miami market at WAMI-TV Channel 69 from 1999 until 2001 as a sports anchor and sports reporter for Sportstown. In addition, he was a studio host for Florida Marlins, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks telecasts.
