Chipper Jones made his final career appearance in Miami as the Atlanta Braves blanked the Marlins 3-0 on Wednesday night at Marlins Park. Jones, a Florida native, will retire at the end of the 2012 season. The Bravos scored one run in each of the first three innings.
The Braves combined to pitch a five-hitter against the Marlins. Kris Medlen(9-1) allowed four hits in eight innings pitched while Craig Kimbrel mounted his 38th save. Miami's starter Josh Johnson(8-13) surrendered three runs and five hits in six innings.
In the first inning, Michael Bourn doubled to deep left-center field to begin the game. He advanced to third on a Martin Prado sacrifice bunt and scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Jason Heyward for a Braves 1-0 lead.
Dan Uggla was on second after he walked and stole a base with two out in the second inning. He added another run as Jose Constanza got a base hit into right-center field.
Atlanta extended their lead to 3-0 in the third inning. Prado walked and Heyward flew out to center. Jones followed with a single to left and moved Prado to third. Freddie Freeman lifted a sacrifice fly into left field to bring in Prado.
