The Miami Marlins were hit less in the first five innings as they lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 3-1 on Monday night at Citizens Bank Park. The Marlins were held to three hits in the game. Kyle Kendrick(9-10) went seven innings for the Phils and gave up one run on two runs. Wade LeBlanc(2-4) allowed three runs on four hits in five innings pitched for Miami.
Ty Wigginton began the three-run fifth inning with a walk. Domonic Brown followed with his second home run of the season on a 3-1 pitch to right field. Two batters later, Michael Martinez doubled to left field and went to third on a Kendrick ground out. With Jimmy Rollins at the plate and two out, Martinez scored on a wild pitch by LeBlanc.
The Marlins closed the gap to 3-1 during the seventh inning. Carlos Lee led off with a double to left field and advanced to second on a ground out by Greg Dobbs to second. Lee scored on a sacrifice fly by Donovan Solano into right field.
