The Philadelphia Phillies scored three runs in the first and they beat the Miami Marlins 4-1 on Sunday at Marlins Park. The Marlins finish the season at home against the New York Mets in a three-game series.
Cole Hamels(17-6) of the Phillies went seven innings and allowed one run on five hits. Nathan Eovaldi(4-13) surrendered three runs on six hits in six innings pitched for the Marlins.
Philadelphia jumped on Eovaldi and Miami with three runs in the first inning. Jimmy Rollins walked and former Marlins Juan Pierre singled into center field. Rollins then scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by Chase Utley. Carlos Ruiz followed with a double to deep left field and brought in Pierre. After Domonic Brown grounded out, Nate Schierholtz made it 3-0 when he singled into left-center field to score Ruiz.
The Fish cut the lead to 3-1 in the fourth inning. Carlos Lee singled into right field with two out as Jose Reyes scored. Giancarlo Stanton was tagged on the play.
The Phillies stretched their lead during the eighth inning. Utley and Ruiz both got base hits off Mike Dunn. Brown knocked in Utley on a sacrifice fly to center field.
