Miami Radio Market Moves Up

Arbitron has promoted the Miami/Fort Lauderdale radio market from 12th to 11th in their fall 2012 ratings period. The local area switches positions with the city of Detroit. The Miami/Fort Lauderdale region has had a stranglehold to the 12th highest market in the nation throughout the 2000's and 2010's.
Radio personnel that work for sports stations in the South Florida region which includes 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM, 104.3 The Ticket WMSF-FM, Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM, 940 The Sports Animal WINZ-AM, 640 Sports WMEN-AM and ESPN Radio 760 WEFL-AM will benefit from this change. Although the status of being in a top 10 market would have greater impact.
Miami/Fort Lauderdale was behind Atlanta which was 11th through most of the 2000's. Atlanta has accumulated a tremendous increase in population in the last several years and currently stands as the ninth highest radio market in the United States.
