The Miami Heat began the 2016 NBA Playoffs with a 123-91 rout of the Charlotte Hornets in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on Sunday night at American Airlines Arena. Both teams met each other two years ago in the first round when Charlotte was known as the Bobcats.
The Heat led the game from the start until the finish as the contest was never close. Miami scored 41 points in the first quarter alone and led 41-22 after 12 minutes. Charlotte played even with their opponent in the second quarter and trailed 67-50 at the half.
Miami moved their margin to over 20 points after halftime and were ahead 97-74 after three quarters. The Heat led by as much as 38 points during the fourth quarter and finished ahead by 32 points.
