Panthers Shut Out Islanders

     The Florida Panthers picked up a 3-0 shutout victory over the New York Islanders at Barclays Center on Monday night. It was the first game of a four-game road trip for the Cats. The Panthers are now 13-3-1 in their last 17 games and 20-6-1 in their last 27.
     They are now one point behind the New Jersey Devils for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. New York(31-35-10) was officially eliminated from the playoff race. It was the final game in the Islanders five-game home stand.
     The Panthers took a 1-0 lead at the 11:38 mark of the first period. Aleksander Barkov handed the puck to Evgenii Dadonov on the right wing. His pass to the top of the zone went to Keith Yandle and he snapped a shot past Christopher Gibson.
     In the second period, Florida(39-28-7) mounted two more goals to go up 3-0. Nick Bjugtad scored his 18th goal of the campaign from the right circle while on the power play at 1:47. Jamie McGinn connected a cross-ice pass from the left circle to him on the play.
     Dadonov made it a three-goal margin on his 24th goal of the season at the 6:09 mark. A centering pass from the left wing went off the left skate of Brandon Davidson at the top of the crease and into the Islanders cage.
     Panthers goalie James Reimer was able to make 32 saves in the shutout win. It was his 21st shutout in the National Hockey League.
