Griffin Conine Leads Marlins Over Pirates

The Miami Marlins outmatched the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 at loanDepot park on Sunday. The Marlins took three of the four games in the opening series of the 2025 season with three walk-off wins.
Jeff Conine was inducted as the first member of the Marlins Legends Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony. Conine, known as Mr. Marlin, is the only person in franchise history to play on both World Series championship teams in 1997 and 2003. Jim Leyland, Jack McKeon and Luis Castillo will be placed in the Marlins Legends Hall of Fame later this year.
Pittsburgh(1-3) was able to get up 2-0 earlier in the contest. Miami(3-1) tied it up 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Griffin Conine blasted a two-run homer to left-center field.
The Marlins picked up a walk-off victory in the ninth inning. Derek Hill reached base on an infield hit, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error. He scored on a David Bednar wild pitch.
