Sidney Crosby backhanded a pass from the left corner and Erik Karlsson sent a diagonal pass from the left point. Bryan Rust collected his 24th goal this season on a backhand shot from the top of the crease by Sergei Bobrovsky.
The Pens make it 2-1 with 33.9 seconds left in the period. Rickard Rakell forwarded a pass from his own blue line. Crosby entered the Panthers zone and lobbed it from the right wing. Rust one-handed the puck in midair from the crease into the net for his second tally of the contest and 25th of the campaign.
In the second period, the Penguins increased their lead to 3-1 with the man advantage at the 6:50 mark. Matt Grzelcyk angled a pass from the high slot. Rust passed from the left goal line and Evgeni Malkin blasted a one-time slap shot from the left-circle dot for his 15th goal in 2024-25.
The Panthers closed it to 3-2 at 9:25 of the second on the power play. Bobrovsky held the puck up and Aleksander Barkov. He brought it into the neutral zone and connected a cross-ice pass. Reinhart raced with it through the right circle and released a forehand shot from the low slot to chalk up his second goal of the game and 35th goal of the season.
The Cats tied it 3-3 with 5:31 remaining in the third period. Nate Schmidt dropped the puck from the right wing. Eetu Luostarien angled a pass from the high slot and Anton Lundell blasted a slap shot from the low right circle for his 16th goal of the year.
