Jai Lucas New Hurricanes Basketball Coach

The University of Miami Hurricanes have named Jai Lucas as their new men's basketball head coach. He will replace longtime head coach Jim Larranaga, who announced his retirement back in December.
Larranaga left the program with the best head coaching record in school history.
Lucas has been an associate head coach with Duke University since 2022. His father John Lucas II was the head coach of the Miami Tropics in the United States Basketball League during the early 1990s. That club ended up winning two USBL championships playing their home games at Golden Panthers Arena on the FIU campus.
The Hurricanes have seen a tremendous drop with the men's basketball team recently. They reached the Final Four back in 2023. Miami currently have a 6-24 record this season for their worst single-season winning percentage ever. The Canes will not make the ACC Tournament and will participate in their regular season finale on Saturday against North Carolina State.
