#1 Columbus barely got by #4 Ocoee 41-36 in Class 4M. #3 Apopka was able to come back on the road and defeat #2 Palm Beach Central 27-24. The Columbus Explorers and Apopka Blue Darters will face each other on December 17 for the FHSAA Class 4M state championship.
In Class 3M, #1 St. Thomas Aquinas got revenge and pounded #4 Jesuit 45-3. #3 Homestead went up to Orlando and defeated #2 Jones 30-24. The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders will challenge the Homestead Broncos on December 15 in the FHSAA Class 3M state title game to open up the FHSAA football state championships at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
#1 Miami Central continued to roll with a 41-29 victory over #4 Lakewood. in Class 2M. #2 American Heritage held off a rush by #3 Bolles 21-14. The Miami Central Rockets and American Heritage Patriots will go at it for the FHSAA Class 2M state championship on December 16.
There was only one local contest in Class 1M. #1 Chaminade-Madonna had no problems and walloped #4 True North Academy 56-0. The Chaminade-Madonna Lions reached the state title game for the sixth consecutive time and will battle against #3 Clearwater Central Catholic for the FHSAA Class 1M state title at Gene Cox Stadium in Tallahassee on December 8.
