The Miami Heat handled the Los Angeles Lakers 112-98 at FTX Arena on Wednesday night. The Heat, who completed a four-game homestand, have defeated the Lakers in 18 of the last 27 regular season meetings.
LeBron James scored 10 of the first 13 points for the Lakers in the opening five minutes of the contest, however Miami(18-17) led 33-25 after one quarter. The Heat remained ahead 61-52 at halftime.
Miami had a 21-11 spurt to begin the second half and Los Angeles(14-21) trailed 95-78 at the end of three quarters. The Lakers scored the first five points in the fourth quarter, went on a 14-7 run and could not catch up.
Jimmy Butler dropped in 27 points for the Heat. Bam Adebayo compiled a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Tyler Herro fell short of a double-double with 18 points and nine assists.
James led the Lakers with a team-high 29 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Russell Westbrook added 15 points and eight assists.
