Broward County schools finished up with two state titles. St. Thomas Aquinas, who now have a 27-game winning streak, captured a state-record 14th FHSAA state championship with a 38-21 victory over Homestead. The undefeated Raiders have compiled 11 state titles in the last 16 seasons. They have won four consecutive state championships which broke their record of three straight titles from 2014 to 2016. Chaminade-Madonna won their fifth state championship in the last six years with a 49-14 win over Clearwater Central Catholic in the FHSAA Class 1M state title contest.
Dade County also picked up two state championships in the high school football finals. Miami Central won their fourth straight state title as they defeated American Heritage 38-31. It was their ninth state championship in school history. Columbus edged Apopka 16-13 in overtime in overtime in the FHSAA Class 4M state championship to get their second state crown in the last four seasons.
